Sports Premium Grant Report 2017-18
Sport plays a very important part in the culture of Queens Park Academy. We encourage all pupils to participate in sporting activities as part of a healthy lifestyle. To this end we try to engage with external organisations to widen the choices for our children. Some of these activities are free, for example Sustrans are working with us this year to provide scooting and cycling opportunities across the school. Some involve paying coaches who make a living from playing sport to raise aspirations and train staff.
We buy into the local Sports Partnership to access as many sporting tournaments as we can so all children can experience friendly, respectful competition and being part of a team. Our Sport Assistant facilitates this participation and also runs enrichment activities for our pupils so that they can develop a lifelong love of exercise. With the teacher who has responsibility for sport in our school he works with our Sports Leaders, KS2 children who have been chosen to represent the pupils’ voice and champion PE among their peers.
As we become a primary school we are enhancing our provision to suit all year groups from Nursery to Year 6.
