May - Week 3

The children from Queens Park have been extremely busy this week.

Some of the children from year 4 have been involved in BIKEABILITY. This is a national scheme aimed to ensure children stay safe on their bikes. The children were asked to bring their own bikes and we provided hats so they were safe. You will see from the pictures below that lost of fun was had by all. One person even managed to learn to ride her bike unaided!! A massive well done year 4!

The year 3 children have been carrying on with their RAINFOREST topic by making smoothies. We looked at many different rainforest fruits that grow and combined flavours to make delicious new Smoothies. Some were enjoyed more than others. Surprisingly the children didn't like the mango one even though they thought they would!

May - Week 1

Well the start of May has not brought a stop to the rain! The rain however, has not impacted on our learning. After the nice long weekend the children in Year 3 have started their topic on Rainforests with an amazing WOW day where they have made their own rainforests in class. The children were asked to think about plants and animals that they know about and we created a rainforest using all their ideas. I think you will agree from the pictures that they had some fantastic ideas. Over the coming weeks the children will be learning all about the flora and fauna as well as the different tribes that inhabit what some people call ‘natures cathedrals’.

The children have had another fun packed week of learning this week. The year 2s had a visit to Priory Marina in Bedford. The children went by bus. The trip was organised to help them with their topic on Flowers and Insects. The children looked at different habitats and completed some work around their visit. They looked for plants and insects that were different to the ones they have seen in school. I think you can see from the pictures below, they had a brilliant time.

On Wednesday the whole school had their pictures taken with the rest of their class and their teachers. They all looked really smart. You will be getting a copy of the pictures soon so you can decide if you'd like to buy them.

What a busy week it has been in Keystage 2!

The Year 3 children started the week with the WOW day for treasure. We asked them to dress up as pirates for the day. During the day we did lots of treasure related activities. From completing a treasure hunt to making port cutlasses. The children also made maps on the computers. This was harder than it sounds. The children are very excited about this topic. Some have suggested a trip to the beach would help their learning!

On Thursday the year 3s took part in a singing morning at St Joseph's. We have been learning a selection of songs and these were sung by children from four local schools. The children sounded amazing and there will be an opportunity for parents to hear them in June at the Corn Exchange.

The year 4s have been busy raising money for the trip to Cadbury's world next week. On Tuesday they had a Family learning afternoon to make chocolate products to sell and then on Wednesday we had the chocolate sale. A MASSIVE thank you to all the parents and careers that supported both events. The trips we take the children on will be remembered for a long time and the profits allow us to go.

Some of the children were even brave enough to hold the chicks.

Year 3 WOW Trade show

The year 3 children finished their money and trade topic by selling some of the amazing products that they have been designing and making over the last 8 weeks. The topic has been enjoyed by all. There were some brilliant products developed, all of which were entirely the children's ideas. From popcorn and cakes to clocks and key rings we had lots of things to sell!

The trade show was an opportunity for parents to come and buy the products that the children had made. The event was very well supported with many groups selling out!!! A massive thank you to all that attended. Well done also to the year 3s. We think you are business people of the future. Watch out Alan Sugar!!!
